Over 150 runners sported their most comfortable sleepwear on Saturday, November 2 during the 3rd Annual Pajama Run.  The event’s mission is to support “cancers below the waist.”  The Charlotte event raises money for the Carolinas Ovarian Cancer Fund at Levine Cancer Institute.  Over 22,000 women are affected by ovarian cancer each year.  Because symptoms are so vague, over 70% of those cases are detected at an advanced stage.  Currently, there is not an early detection test.  Philanthropic dollars from this fund support local ovarian cancer research at Cannon Research Center.  Community awareness initiatives and patient support programs are also a key focus.  Congratulations to the top fundraiser, Levine Cancer Institute patient Catherine Zanga, who raised over $1,000.  And, a special thanks to all of the participants and sponsors who made this event possible.
