Medical Research and Education
Atrium Health is home to some of the most advanced medical research in the region. That means people in our community have access to the best treatments close to home, without having to travel far away and leaving friends and family behind. And generous donors are fueling much of the research, as well as helping educate future generations of doctors, nurses and other medical providers.
Carolinas Medical Center is an Academic Medical Center which provides the best patient care available. But its physicians and researchers also work to advance medical knowledge and improve the care provided to the communities we serve.
Philanthropy also improves patient care by improving the education of healthcare providers. For instance, donations support the purchase of simulation babies at the Carolinas College of Health Sciences, which allows future neonatal intensive care nurses to react to a variety of scenarios before working with real patients. Donations also fund scholarships for emergency medicine, pediatric education and nursing.
