The holiday spirit filled the airwaves — and the halls of Levine Children’s Hospital — this week, as WNKS Kiss 95.1 morning show hosts, Roy, Maney, and LauRen, broadcasted the Secret Santa Radiothon live from the Ryan Seacrest Studios at Levine Children’s Hospital. From 4-year-old Wren Jansen’s cancer survival story to Kyler’s miraculous heart transplant, stories of hope and healing inspired donors to contribute over $105,000 to support the medical resources and patient services that make Levine Children’s Hospital a destination for world-class care. A rotating team of more than a hundred volunteers served in the radiothon phone bank, taking callers’ pledges of support for nearly 15 hours straight on Thursday, December 14.
Contributing significantly to the success of the radiothon was Presenting Sponsor, local HVAC and plumbing company Morris-Jenkins. Leading the charge in the company’s support of the hospital is Dewey Jenkins, owner of Morris-Jenkins, who also serves as a member of the Levine Children’s Hospital’s Board of Ambassadors. The company’s employees, who provide year-round support by participating in team fundraising efforts such as Secret Santa, as well as several Morris-Jenkins suppliers, made substantial contributions to this year’s radiothon broadcast. Also bolstering the fundraising broadcast were two additional radio stations from Beasley Media Group: K104.7 and WSOC The New 103.7.
Finally, many community sponsors contributed to the success of the Secret Santa Radiothon, whom we wish to thank: Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Queen Park Social, and hourly sponsors Local Loaf, Pfeiffer University, 7C Laundry, Botanical Tan, JLK Mechanical, Dish it Out, Lucky Dog Bark and Brew, CORT Furniture, Cortland Partners, Pint Central, Titos, and Cresswind-Charlotte.
