December 28, 2021 – As reported by Becker’s Hospital Review, after receiving major donations, several hospitals and health systems named buildings and centers after their donors or their donors’ loved ones in 2021.

Atrium Health was listed among the 27 facilities named after their donors. The first appearance in the list included the future Howard R. Levine Center for Education, named after benefactor Howard R. Levine with a gift of $25 million made by the Howard R. Levine Foundation to name the signature academic building at the new Wake Forest University School of Medicine; and the second, the David L. Conlan Center which will anchor Carolinas Rehabilitation’s new flagship facility. The David L. Conlan Center was named with a $30 million donation from Howard “Smoky” Bissell and his wife Margaret, in honor of late friend David Conlan.
