Introducing Giving Hope Campaign Cabinet Vice-Chair: Luke Kissam

A native South Carolinian, Luke Kissam is a Citadel alum and graduate of the University of South Carolina Law School. He joined Albemarle Corporation in 2003, helping to transform the company into a global leader in lithium, bromine, and refining catalysts. Upon Albemarle’s relocation from Baton Rouge, LA to Charlotte, NC, Luke returned to the Carolinas with his wife, Kathryn, and their three boys. Luke retired as chairman and CEO of the company in 2019, and is currently a partner with Bernhard Capital Partners.

Kathryn and Luke remain active in the community and are passionate about family, education, and healthcare. In 2021, Luke joined the Giving Hope Campaign Cabinet as Campaign Vice-Chair. Through their family’s leadership and recent contribution in support of cancer research at Levine Cancer Institute, the Kissams continue to provide hope for patients, families, and teammates across Atrium Health.

“Kathryn and I believe that health and wellness are critical components of a vibrant and progressive community,” shared Luke. “We are delighted that we can play a small part in helping Charlotte stay at the forefront of ensuring that all its citizens have access to both.”

About Giving Hope: The Campaign for Atrium Health

GIVING HOPE is a comprehensive philanthropic campaign to transform healthcare by supporting Atrium Health’s vision to be the national leader in health and learning in our community. As a health system, we are breaking down barriers to ensure access to care and equity in education for aspiring healthcare professionals. We are also enhancing research programs and improving infrastructure to accommodate population growth and offer premier environments for our healthcare heroes.

As partners, we will improve health, elevate hope, and advance healing – FOR ALL. Together, we will usher in a new era of health as we align personal passions with strategic priorities to invest in the well-being of Charlotte’s next generations.
