PinStripes Raises Over $100,000 for Carolinas ALS Center

On September 22, the 16thAnnual PinStripes, Golfing for Gehrig tournament and reception were held at the Ballantyne Hotel and Golf Club, raising over $100,000, with over $3 million raised since the event’s inception. Presented by Shea Homes, event proceeds benefit The PinStripes Fund, which helps to advance research and also supports treatment programs for patients of The Carolinas Neuromuscular/ALS-MDA Center at Carolinas Medical Center.

Carole Hart, an executive with Time Warner Cable Media and PinStripes co-founder, recognized several families for their dedication to the cause, including the family of Ed Shea, a co-founder of PinStripes, who is currently battling ALS; Carolina Panthers stand-out Mike Rucker, whose own family has been impacted by ALS, personally thanked donors for their ongoing commitment to ALS fundraising; the families of Roger English and Bill Spencer were also applauded for being champions of the PinStripes Fund for many years. The evening concluded with a presentation given by Dr. Benjamin Brooks, Director of the Carolinas Neuromuscular/ALS-MDA Center, who shared the Center’s latest advancements in ALS research and recent collaborations that have truly positioned the Center as a world leader in ALS clinical trials.
