For Bosom Buddies President, Cyndi Thilo, breast cancer advocacy is a cause that hits close to home. She has turned her family’s experience with the disease into a passionate dedication to breast cancer awareness and patient support. For over eight years, the Bosom Buddies organization—comprised of a group of tennis players at racquet clubs throughout the Charlotte area—has raised several hundred thousand dollars to support the Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Fund at Levine Cancer Institute, including $50,000 raised through this year’s tennis clinic alone. The popular pro-led tennis event was held over the course of three days in 2016 at Weddington Swim and Raquet Club, the Levine Jewish Community Center, Charlotte Indoor Tennis, and the Russell Tennis Center in Charlotte.

Funds raised by the Bosom Buddies are used to advance patient support services, breast cancer outreach, clinical research, and palliative care programs that Levine Cancer Institute provides to patients. Notably, funds raised by the Bosom Buddies in prior years helped to establish the “Bosom Buddies Image Boutique” at Levine Cancer Institute’s main campus.
