From April 6-8, more than 35 cyclists and adaptive hand-cyclists achieved the amazing feat of riding more than 180 miles (around 60 miles per day) from Charlotte, NC, to North Myrtle Beach, SC, many using only the strength of their arms and upper body. This April marked the 18th anniversary of the remarkable Cycle to the Sea event, a flagship awareness and fundraising event for the Adaptive Sports & Adventures Program (ASAP) at Carolinas Rehabilitation. The beloved event raised over $73,000, all the while carrying out ASAP’s mission: to provide high quality, adaptive sport and recreation opportunities to youth and adults with physical disabilities, and to help participants develop skills that will lead to and enhance an active and productive lifestyle. Special thanks go to lead sponsor, Waypoint, and ASAP staff Jen Moore and Jackie Campbell. Our congratulations and thanks go to Top Fundraiser, Brian Muscarella (shown in featured photo) who led “Team Freak” to raise over $23,000 to support ASAP.
