24 Foundation Commits $1.75 Million To Support Atrium Health Cancer Survivorship Programs

The 24 Foundation recently committed $1.75 million in continued support for Atrium Health’s Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children’s Hospital cancer survivorship programs over the next five years. The pledge was made on the heels of a successful annual cycling event the organization held earlier this year, which raised more than $1.4 million to support Atrium Health and other patient survivorship programs in the community.

 

Colon Cancer Coalition Awards $30,000 to Atrium Health’s FIT For Life Program

Thanks to a national coalition with local ties, residents of Mecklenburg, Gaston and Union Counties will have improved access to colon cancer screenings and follow-up care provided by FIT For Life – a program of Atrium Health’s Levine Cancer Institute.

 

DP World Americas Donation Supports Gene Sequencing Technology

DP World Americas donated $30,000 towards the purchase of a Next Generation Sequencing instrument, the Ion GeneStudio S5 System, to be utilized by Levine Cancer Institute researchers in the Translational Research Labs.

 

Braswell Trust Gift

A gift of $27,000 from the James R. Braswell and Bronnie L. Braswell Trust will help to increase access to eye exams for uninsured and underinsured diabetic patients at Atrium Health clinics based in Anson County.

 

American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation Investigator Award

As part of a two-year investigator award, the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation recently granted $25,000 in continued support for research led by Atrium Health’s Dragos Plesca, PharmD, PhD, BCOP, DPLA. Dr. Plesca’s project, Acquired immunity in multiple myeloma patients undergoing maintenance therapy post autologous stem cell transplantation, helps to advance Levine Cancer Institute’s treatment and understanding of multiple myeloma.

The 10th Annual Golf for Hospice Tournament

The tournament, held on Monday, October 28 at The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, raised more than $72,000 for Hospice programs such as Wings to Soar, a community grief program for children, teens and adults.

 

The Isabella Santos Foundation Pumpkin Ball

The Isabella Santos Foundation held its 2nd Annual Pumpkin Charity Ball this fall at the Ritz Carlton Uptown Charlotte. Supporters of the Isabella Santos Foundation continue to raise awareness and funds to support vital clinical research and novel treatments at Levine Children’s Hospital for rare childhood cancers.

 

 Takes on Cancer

On October 12, the 6th Annual Takes on Cancer fundraising event held at VBGB Beer Hall & Garden in Charlotte raised over $9,000 to benefit the Taylor Soloff Memorial Endowment, which supports patient care initiatives at  Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte.

 

Serve for the Cure

This fall, Charlotte Latin School hosted the 17th Annual Serve for the Cure Volleyball Tournament, which raised $24,500 to advance breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment at Levine Cancer Institute.

 

Strokes for Spokes

The Strokes for Spokes tennis event, organized by Helen and Bill Leonard (President, Atrium Health University City) raised over $24,000 to support Carolinas Rehabilitation’s Adaptive Sports & Adventures Program.
