Levine Cancer Institute Expansion – $2 million in gifts collectively made by The Howard Levine Foundation, and by Lori and Eric Sklut, will fund the development of the Barbara L. Levine Infusion Center—a significant part of Levine Cancer Institute’s plans for expansion.

 

CHS Employee Giving Campaign – Carolinas HealthCare System teammates continue to be the largest supporters of Children’s Miracle Network in the Carolinas by raising over $1.6 million through the 2016/2017 Teammate Giving Campaign. Not only are CHS teammates the leading CMN supporters in the Greater-Charlotte region, their gifts also represent the largest healthcare system employee campaign for CMN in the nation.

 

Nephrology Center of Excellence – This October, more than 200 guests attended a fundraiser at the home of M.C. and Jeff Pilon to launch the Pediatric Nephrology Center of Excellence at Levine Children’s Hospital. The new Center will promote patient and family-centered care for children impacted with kidney disease by leveraging patient and clinician engagement, clinical research, improvement science and national best practices to transform the overall patient experience and quality of life for patients. The event raised over $80,000 for the Center, and featured the announcement of a lead gift of $1 million from a generous local donor.

 

Duke Endowment Grant funds Dementia Patient Navigator – A grant for $308K was awarded by The Duke Endowment to establish a care navigator program to serve dementia patients being treated at the CHS University Memory Clinic. The program will provide personal and professional guidance for patients, family members, and caregivers coping with the emotional, psychological, and physical effects of dementia.

 

Paula Takacs Foundation for Sarcoma Research – November 18 marked a significant milestone for the Paula Takacs Foundation for Sarcoma Research, whose Executive Director, Susan Udelson, presented a $125,000 gift to Levine Cancer Institute in continued support for clinical research to improve treatment and detection of soft tissue sarcomas. This gift brings the Foundation’s tremendous support of Levine Cancer Institute to a lifetime total of nearly $400,000.

 

Wells Fargo Championship – The Wells Fargo’s Championship’s Champions for Education charity recently contributed $100,000 to LCH cancer research programs. Funding from the Championship, amounting to a cumulative total of over $1 million, has been critical to advancing Levine Children’s Hospital’s early-stage, experimental clinical research trials over the last several years.

 

Hopebuilders 5K – The 21st Annual Hopebuilders 5K, held November 19, brought together more than 1,000 runners, walkers, volunteers, and families in support of Levine Children’s Hospital. The generous contributions of hospital donors and event sponsors collectively amounted to over $200,000.

 

UNC Charlotte Dance Marathon – Students of UNC-Charlotte raised $51,000 to benefit Levine Children’s Hospital through their 24-hour “Dance Marathon” held November 4-5 as part of a nationwide movement among colleges and universities to support CMN Hospitals. This represents a new fundraising record for the marathon.
