MusicLand Gift Foundation Brings Hope and Harmony to Cancer Patients

Music has the power to heal — a truth that cancer survivor Kenny Kahn experienced firsthand during his lymphoma treatment at Atrium Health Levine Cancer. A lifelong music enthusiast, Kenny found comfort and connection in the playlists and messages shared by loved ones that carried him through the hardest moments of treatment.

“The medical treatment cured me, but supportive oncology healed me,” Kenny says.

Throughout his journey, Kenny was deeply moved by the breadth of supportive oncology programs available to patients at Levine Cancer — from psycho-oncology and nutrition counseling to art and music therapy. But he was equally struck by how limited access to these vital services can be, even at leading cancer centers across the country.

Determined to change that reality for others, Kenny and his family created MusicLand Gift Foundation to expand supportive oncology services and enhance the patient experience. This mission aligns with Advocate Health’s bold vision to establish a national model for cancer survivorship — one that prioritizes not just curing disease but healing the whole person. As part of Advocate Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the nation, Atrium Health Levine Cancer plays a leading role in advancing this holistic approach to cancer care.

“The national model is a scalable and transferable idea whose time has come,” said Dr. Declan Walsh, chair of Supportive Oncology at Atrium Health Levine Cancer. “We believe this will become the standard of care not just in the United States, but internationally.”

Thanks to MusicLand Gift Foundation’s generosity, supportive oncology at Levine Cancer continues to grow in powerful ways. Their gifts have helped expand telemedicine and AI research, caregiver support, student internships, and a post-graduate fellowship in supportive oncology, strengthening care for patients and families across the region.

A Weekend of Hope & Harmony

This September, the MusicLand Gift Foundation hosted Hope & Harmony, a weekend-long celebration that united supporters through music, philanthropy, and community — all to advance survivorship care at Atrium Health Levine Cancer.

  • Dining with Doctors: A seven-course meal hosted by L’Ostrica and chef Eric Ferguson, with fine wines donated by Petit Philippe patrons. Throughout the evening, Levine Cancer physicians — including Drs. Declan Walsh, Anthony Caprio, and Ruben Mesa — shared insights on the creation of the national model for cancer survivorship.
  • Wine and Music Soirée: A lively celebration featuring chef Michael Bader of The Speckled Pear, live music, and an exclusive silent auction of exclusive getaways and experiences.
  • Inner Circle Wine Dinner: An intimate evening with Levine Cancer physicians, patients, and advocates in La Cave at Petit Philippe, featuring a five-course meal paired with exceptional wines.

Through these gatherings and ongoing generosity, Musicland Gift Foundation continues to bring hope, harmony, and healing to cancer patients and their families.
