A retirement celebration was held on June 24 to honor Dr. Edward Hanley, Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at Carolinas HealthCare System.

Guests gathered at Quail Hollow Club for a dinner to celebrate Dr. Hanley’s 28 years of distinguished service to Carolinas HealthCare System. During the event, Dr. Hanley’s colleague , Dr. Joshua Patt, announced the establishment of the Edward N. Hanley, Jr., MD, Endowed Chair for Orthopaedic Surgery at Carolinas Medical Center. Many of Dr. Hanley’s colleagues and friends contributed to the endowment, which is dedicated to the support of Orthopaedic Surgery Resident education, research, and leadership development at Carolinas Medical Center.

The endowment will provide support for investigator initiated research projects, special seminars, conferences, and visiting professors hosted by the Carolinas Medical Center Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Additionally, the endowment will  provide support for resident and fellow educational opportunities along with resident and faculty leadership development.
