Breast cancer remains the second most common cancer among women in the United States after skin cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. In 2025, an estimated 316,950 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women and approximately 2,800 new cases in men. Approximately 10% of all new cases in the U.S. are found in women younger than 45 years of age.

At Atrium Health Levine Cancer, hope begins with early detection and advanced treatment options. As the region’s leading provider of breast cancer care, Levine Cancer offers access to clinical trials and innovative programs like Atrium Health Levine Cancer: Project PINK and The Sandra Levine Young Women’s Breast Cancer Program, ensuring patients have access to the best care possible, close to home.

Philanthropy plays a vital role in supporting research, education, and outreach programs that expand access to breast health services. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, community partners helped advance Levine Cancer’s mission of healing through creative fundraising events:

A Fashionably Forward Evening for Tickled PINK

The 17th Annual Tickled Pink, presented by Allegacy Federal Credit Union, brought together 200 guests for an inspiring evening in support of Atrium Health Union’s Tickled PINK program. The event featured a runway show with breast cancer survivors modeling fashions from local boutiques, a silent auction, and emcee Brigida Mack. Thanks to generous donors and sponsors, including Charlotte Radiology, the event raised over $100,000 to support free mammograms, breast health education, and follow-up care for women in Union County and surrounding communities.

Since its inception, Tickled Pink has raised more than $820,000, providing nearly 2,400 screening and diagnostic mammograms, conducting 136 biopsies, and helping detect 45 cases of breast cancer. Beyond screenings, the program also assists patients undergoing treatment with resources such as transportation to medical appointments, one-time utility bill assistance, and lymphedema garments. The event was a powerful example of the impact that donors can have in the fight against breast cancer.

Charlotte Radiology Raises a Glass for Project PINK

Charlotte Radiology and NoDa Brewing Co. teamed up for the 14th Annual Pink Pint Night. The event helped kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with special pink brews, live entertainment, and auction all to raise funds for life-saving mammogram screenings for local women. Dr. Deba Sarma, a surgical oncologist at Levine Cancer, was one of several speakers who discussed the latest treatment advancements made possible by philanthropy. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, attendees, and donors, this year’s event raised nearly $50,000 for Project PINK.
