Atrium Health Gives

As the single largest healthcare employee-based contributor to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Atrium Health teammates help Levine Children’s Hospital achieve new milestones in delivering world-class care – year after year. This year, during the Atrium Health Gives campaign, more than 14,600 teammates contributed or pledged more than $1.5 million to support Children’s Miracle Network member-hospital, Levine Children’s Hospital.

 

Patrick Kennedy Speaks

Addressing an audience of more than 200 mental health advocates and healthcare providers on September 12, former U.S. Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy gave a captivating keynote address for the Second Annual Behavioral Health Luncheon. The event raised $140,000 to benefit Atrium Health’s safety net behavioral health facility in Charlotte.

 

8th Annual Stiletto Sprint

The 8th Annual Stiletto Sprint reached new heights, raising over $100,000 to support vital ovarian cancer research efforts underway at Levine Cancer Institute. Contributing to the success was presenting sponsor Bissell Ballantyne, along with other top sponsors: Teal Diva, Tesaro, the Teal Butterfly Challenge, RP Signs, Clovis Oncology, Southeast Radiation Oncology Group, Charlotte Radiology, Martin Truex Jr. Foundation, SherryStrong, and others.

 

 

 

 

Pink Pint Night

On September 27, survivors, advocates, families and friends donned their pink attire and headed to NoDa Brewing Company for Pink Pint Night, kicking off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Proceeds from Pink Pint Night topped $60,000, benefiting Levine Cancer Institute: Project PINK, a program designed to increase access to life-saving mammography and follow up screenings for uninsured women.

 

Eastwood Homes Golf

In addition to donating a portion of every Charlotte-area home sale to the hospital, Eastwood Homes also held its 6th Annual Charity Golf Outing this September, raising an additional $140,000 for the hospital.

 

CHS University

The 25th annual Dr. Ed Stubbs Memorial Golf Tournament, held September 24, grossed $55,000 to support Carolinas HealthCare System University in its community outreach and wellness programs.

 

Wells Fargo Championship

The Wells Fargo Championship, on behalf of Champions for Education, announced on October 18 more than $1.5 million in donations to Charlotte-area organizations. As a result of the 2018 tournament, Champions for Education donated $250,000 to Levine Children’s Hospital.

 

Bojangles’ / MDA

In partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the company’s 20th Annual MDA Golf Classic held this October grossed over $398,000. Each year, proceeds from this sell-out golf tournament benefit breakthrough Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy research conducted at the McColl-Lockwood Laboratory at Carolinas Medical Center.

 

The 23rd Annual Hopebuilders 5K

Presented by Barings, the Hopebuilders 5K inspired more than 1,000 participants to contribute, fundraise, run, and walk – all in support of patients at Levine Children’s. The October 13 event raised $180,000 to support the areas of greatest need across Levine Children’s Hospital.

 

 

Walmart and Sam’s Club

Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers and members in Charlotte, NC put their money where the miracles are during the annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising campaign, raising over $347,000 for Levine Children’s Hospital in 2018. The effort was part of a national campaign for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals which resulted in $30 million raised, putting the total raised in the U.S. and Canada since 1987 over the $1 billion milestone.

 

Tune Up Your Kidneys

On October 11, the third annual “Tune Up Your Kidneys” event raised over $100,000 for the Pediatric Nephrology Center of Excellence at Levine Children’s Hospital. More than 200 attendees enjoyed an upscale barbeque, music, live auction, and inspiring program emceed by WCNC’s Rachel Rollar. Susan Massengill, MD, director of the Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension Program, shared the latest updates on the Center’s accomplishments in patient care, family education, and clinical research. Following the event, an additional $1 million gift was made by a grateful patient family.

 

 

Ganatra 3D Printing Lab Unveiled

Thanks to a generous commitment of $500,000 made by Tansukh, Sarla, and Rajesh Ganatra in 2017, Atrium Health is home to a new state-of-the-art 3D printing lab. The Ganatra 3-D Printing Lab will allow for creation of real life models of a patient’s heart by using images from an MRI or CT scan. Learn more about the Ganatra family’s gift.

 

 

Partner Fundraising News:

  • Isabella Santos Foundation 5K/10K for Kids cancer raised $225,000 to support research for neuroblastomas and other pediatric rare cancers.

 

  • On October 3, guests of the Pounding for Parker Foundation Gala wore their best grey attire signifying the cause they gathered to support: pediatric brain cancer research. The Foundation’s namesake – Parker Cowherd – is currently undergoing treatment at Levine Children’s.

 

  • On September 29, more than 180 swimmers made a splash at Lake Norman in the second annual Swim Across America Charlotte Open Water Swim, raising $150,000 to support leukemia research at Levine Cancer Institute.

 

  • Thanks to ongoing fundraising and support from 24 Foundation, LibStrong, and Drew’s Crew, complimentary access to healthy food and snacks will now be offered to patients and families in the Torrence E. Hemby Jr. Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplant Center through a mobile healthy snack cart.
